Getting good lecture notes is a bonus for when you have to do assignments and homework and you’re far more likely to do well in your exams and your essays. Everyone would want to be at the top of their uni work, hence why lecture note-taking is very important. The sooner you can learn how to take lecture notes properly, the more good habits you’ll develop and the better your uni work will be.

Why do we take lecture notes?

Lecture notes often contain important information useful for your work or assignment that may not be available anywhere else and this is your only chance to learn it. Other than that, the fundamental organization and purpose of the lecture will become clear through note-taking.

How to prepare for classes?

One of the common mistakes for students is not preparing themselves well enough for classes. Making sure you have done the reading your lecturers told you to do is important, and so is reviewing again the summary of your previous class or your notes. Not following these tips could risk you falling behind your classes without even noticing.

  1. You should listen closely for important points
  2. Prepare a list of questions to ask during class/at the end of class
  3. Take notes of what you understand
